My first blog post was in February of 2009. I’d been walking around with the StickMonkey nickname for a while. It seemed like an interesting name for a blog, which is how So Sayeth the StickMonkey came to be.
I’ve added over 275 posts over the years. Some – like this one about martinis – garnered hundreds of reads. Most got a handful.
Blogs must have themes if you want bazillions of readers. My StickMonkey blog didn’t have one – at least not a super-niche theme. I tended to write about marketing and advertising.
Sometimes I would hit a nerve. I’d see a blip on my blog dashboard. The piece I wrote about content-generation versus storytelling got a few reads.
The irony is that I create articles for clients that help to establish their blogs and position them as thought leaders. I haven’t bothered to do that for myself.
The end of the StickMonkey?
I’ll sort through my StickMonkey musings. I’ll distill the posts that have to do with storytelling, and I’ll deposit them here.
